Radio Station

WPA workers are widening Gannon Road on the grounds of the proposed radio station. The establishment of a radio station at this point was considered necessary to expedite the handling of radio messages. District headquarters o f the Coast Guard is now at New Orleans but the radio station is at Mobile, Alabama, requiring the use of teletype in transmitting messages from New Orleans to Mobile.

WPA workmen are constructing drives on the grounds of the proposed U.S. Coast Guard radio station at Little Woods. This road, known as Morrison Road, runs parallel to the Morrison Canal. The project is expected to cost $51,590 and is under sponsorship of the Coast Guard.

Radio Station

WPA will perform ground work for the site of a radio station of the U.S. Coast Guard at Little Woods, four miles east of the airport. The work will involve clearing and grubbing, landscaping, construction of sidewalks, curbs a nd drives, extension of a water line and construction of a fence to surround the property. These views show the proposed location of the building site.
