U.S. Army Base |
Quartermaster Depot |
The WPA has made a considerable contribution to the preparation of army base facilities for their present large function in national defense. These photographs show the concrete ramp leading from platform level to trach level, permitting trucks to move on to the middle track to expedite loading of freight cars; WPA workers constructing a ramp at the end of the spur track on the down-river edge of the reservation; the WPA roadway leading to the wharf; WPA workers widening the road at the lake end of the center building; and the three six-story buildings of the depot. |
