03.08 Airports National Guard Observation Squadron Base at Airpor More than 100 WPA workers are constructing a hangar/administration building and repair and store shops for the base on the lakefront. The buildings are being erected on the east side of the N.O. airport so that the National Guard planes can utilize the landing facilities of the airport itself. 3/11/1941

Engineers estimate that brickwork on the two smaller buildings, the warehouse and machine shop, is about 50% complete. 03.10 Airports National Guard Observation Squadron Base at Airpor With the driving of pilings for the base almost completed, WPA workers have started installing the footing steel and finishing the concrete chain foundations for the two other smaller buildings, the administration building and the warehouse. 03.11 Airports National Guard Observation Squadron Base at Airpor The base will consist of a combination administration building, a hangar which will be 200x200 feet in size, a warehouse, 50x200 feet, and a building for machine shops, 50x150 feet. The structures will be of steel and brick, and it is expected that they will be ready for occupancy by October 1. 5/29/1941
