Wisner Drive Overpass Attached text: A handsome overpass structure designed to eliminate a double track crossing on Wisner Boulevard in City Park will soon be under construction. The Wisner Overpass is to be located on the west bank of Bayou St. John at Florida Avenue. Its two 24-foot approaches and roadways will carry Wisner Drive, one of the city's newest, most beautiful boulevards, across the tracks of the New orleans Terminal Company. Two 18-foot roadways will connect Zachary Drive to Wisner at the lake end of the structure. Total length of the overpass and its approaches will be 2450 feet. The aluminum railing will be of open design in order to allow an unobstructed view of the City Park and the surrounding area from the top of the overpass. This is to be the first structure in New Orleans built with precast, prestressed concrete. Unknown date [Photography by Frank H. Allen] |
