London Avenue area housing improvement
Attached text: The first major paving project to be completed in a rehabilitation area was accomplished on London Avenue and intersecting streets. The paving was made available through a special $200,000 allocation from the City Council, earmarked for use in rehabilitation areas only and property owner contributions. The London Avenue rehabilitation area is one of the most advanced in the city. It takes in 81 square blocks and houses nearly 8,500 persons. Nearly $225,000 has already been spent in the area for improvements. The paving project, and sub-surface draining, insures a continuous climb upward for the neighborhood.
