Football coaches Johnny Vaught of Ole Miss, at left, and Paul "Bear" Bryant of Alabama, at right, mix Cafe Brulot for visiting newspaper, television, radio and newsreel personnel--guests of the Sugar Bowl at world famed Antoine's for annual New Year's Eve Party. The mixing of the brulot by the two participating coaches is an annual custom on the eve of the Sugar Bowl Football Classic. The year was 1964, when the game was played just after a big snowfall. Joe Namath was the Alabama star quarterback but he was under suspension and did not play. His team won anyway, 12-7. .
