An electronic calculator in the Bureau of Accounting, January 1958. "Electronic calculator is used in computing pay checks of city employees and for extending personal property and real estate tax bills. It processes employee work cards at the rate of 100 per minute and is capable of doing 6000 calculations per minute. It is the baby or forerunner of the electronic brain, and represents the city's first experience with automation. Advantages are its high degree of accuracy, as well as the saving of time and personnel."
