One archives carton containing correspondence, memorandums, minutes, reports, sketches, notes, and related material dealing with the early planning of what became the 1984 Louisiana World Exposition.

Architect Winston Everitt (Robin) Riley, Jr. appears to have begun his association with the World's Fair project as a local resource person working with Hilker-Dingwell Associates, Inc., the Seattle firm hired as principal consultant by Louisiana Expo, Inc., the original corporation interested in bringing a Fair to New Orleans. During this period Riley was also the supervising architect for the Louis Armstrong Park development in the Crescent City. He later served as the city of New Orleans liaison to LWE.

The handwritten notes and sketches appear to be Riley's own work. Some of the letters, memos, and other documents are addressed from or to him. Other materials are photocopies apparently forwarded to or otherwise collected by Riley. Generally, these papers document the early, preliminary planning stages of the Exposition's theme and artistic/architectural appearance.

These materials were transferred to the Library by City Planning Commission staff member Steven Rutledge, December 23, 1994. Rutledge found them on his desk one day.
