If you're looking for a somewhat happier ending to our visit with the New Orleans Fire Department, you've come to the right place. We mentioned above a 1973 fire that killed several people on Baronne Street. Firefighters were able to rescue a number of people--and one dog--on that terrible morning. This photograph shows Firefighter John S. Weinmann, Jr. and the rescued dog, Charlie, in a scene that made everyone feel at least a little better.
