New Orleans' Air Raid Warning Map Project

The WPA's caption reads, "Working against time, these WPA researchers and map makers in the city planning and zoning commission are preparing New Orleans' air raid warning map. The basic material used in preparing the map is the real property survey of the city, compiled by WPA workers two years ago, as well as zoning, traffic and delinquent tax surveys previously made by other WPA projects." The photograph was taken on December 11, 1941, just after the United States' entry into World War II.

Although the City Archives holds various records of the City Planning Commission, the Air Raid Warning Map is not among them.
