Images of the Month Gallery
This month we visit the pages of the Southern Buck for the third and last time in 2007. The Buck was published in New Orleans for the Elks of Louisiana and Mississippi. For this month's Gallery we feature portraits of eleven members of the organization's Lodge #30 (based in the Crescent City) and one member from the Baton Rouge group. We've selected these men not so much because they were Elks, but because they were well-known either as individuals or as representatives of prominent business firms. The organization's constitution did limit membership to white males (African Americans were not admitted until 1973 and women until 1995), hence the lack of diversity among their faces.
