Dr. Bostock is not a local figure, and we know nothing about him. His bookplate is to be found among the "U.S.--Personal" category in our collection. We include his bookplate here merely for its curiosity value. What kind of animal is that, anyway, and why is it wearing a halter and sitting on a tree stump?
