The 1300 block of Decatur Street. This row of store buildings across the street
from the United States Mint property was built during the 1830s and early 1840s. Tax
assessment records from the year 1900 show that a jewelry store, two fruit stores, and a clothing
store were operating in the block. A crockery store near the corner of Decatur and Esplanade
had just moved to a new location. The buildings remain standing today.
