Images of the Month Gallery June 2001 This month we feature a selection of slides showing scenes from New Orleans during the late 1940s and 1950s. At that time in its history the Crescent City was just beginning to develop into a modern urban center following years of depression and war. Between 1946 and 1960 the city underwent an explosion in building activity, a drastic change in transportation patterns, and a resurgence in tourism and international trade. |
