Dr. Nix also submitted a photo of the businesses at the uptown-river side corner of Jeanette and South Carrollton, including a Piggly-Wiggly store, a radio shop, and a ladies' permanent wave and barber shop. Today Cavallino's restaurant occupies the building.

Several residents in the area objected to commercialization along South Carrollton Avenue, but most of the petitioners in District I argued for business zoning in the area.
