Rodolphe Lucien Desdunes in his later years.

This photograph of Desdunes in his later years was printed in the 1973 translation, Our People and Our History. In his early 60's, an accident on the docks, where Desdunes had gone to supervise weighing for customs, led to a gradual loss of sight, and, in 1912, he was forced to retire from his Customhouse job. He died in 1928, at the age of 79.
