The program for the Louisiana Day procession indicates, "Should the visiting
Governors or Staffs
desire not to be mounted, they may ride in carriages in the place designated for visiting Governors preceding
the mounted Staffs." Apparently Missouri Governor Alexander Monroe Dockery preferred to ride in comfort,
here with the wife of Governor Blanchard of Louisiana.
