Float Seventeen
The Temple of Victory

"...was the last car. It presented the double front of a triumphal arch, with a Victory, clad like a nymph, portrayed on either side, while the ancient glory of the Roman peers sat in a high triumphant chair. The float showed pillars tall, supposd to be of ivory, with crystal fringes and alabaster chapter. The legend relates that even so fair a thing, that seemed not of earthly craftsman's wit, fell into the dust and ruin of quick decay."
