Louisiana Archives and Manuscripts Association
Fall Meeting, 1999

On November 12, 1999, LAMA members from all over the state met in New Orleans at the Newcomb Center for Research on Women for their Annual Meeting. On the program were presentations by Clarence Hunter, Archivist at the Amistad Research Center, who spoke on "Missing Pieces of the Civil Rights Movement Records"; David A. Combe, Law Librarian and Professor of Law at the Tulane University Law School Library, who spoke on "John Minor Wisdom Judicial Papers: The Man and the Papers"; and Mark Andrews, who has been arranging the Wisdom Papers at Tulane.

Members also elected new officers and board members, and, as is traditional at LAMA meetings, reported news from their individual institutions. The meeting concluded with a wonderful lunch and a walking tour of repositories on the Tulane and Loyola University campuses: the Newcomb Center for Research on Women, Jones Hall (the home of Tulane's Special Collections), the Law School Library (home of the Wisdom papers), and the new Loyola University Library.

Here are a few snaps of the meeting, taken (not always very well!) with a digital camera.
