250 1/1/1777 The Comissioners being informed of the transfer of the Governorship of Louisiana to Don Bernardo de Galvez, Colonel of the Battalion, receives him to the exercise and use of the office of Governor-General, pro-tem. Galvez took the customary oath and ordered the Cabildo to proceed with the usual annual elections.

250 1/1/1777 At this meeting Unzaga informs the Cabildo that he has been appointed Governor and Captain-General of the City of Caracas and the Province of Venezuela, and that the King has ordered him to transfer to Don Bernardo de Galvez, Colonel of the Battalion, the government of the Province of Louisiana.

256 1/31/1777 Governor: Galvez; Royal Ensign: De Reggio, Sr. - At this meeting the cart drivers present a petition concerning the laws established governing trips along the levee. The Commissioners ordered that they comply with the law.

256 1/31/1777 Governor: Galvez; Royal Ensign: De Reggio, Sr. -At this meeting a petition is presented by the cart drivers regarding trips along the levee; which petition was denied and the cart drivers were told to abide by the law.

256 1/31/1777 Governor: Galvez; Royal Ensign: De Reggio, Sr. - At this meeting the urgent necessity of having a printing office was discussed, and the Commissioners sent for Don Lorenzo Boudousquie, printer for the city during the French Regime, and he agreed to print, for His Majesty and the Cabildo, everything necessary.

261 4/11/1777 Governor: Galvez; Royal Ensign: De Reggio, Sr. - At this time the Commissioners agreed to grant and did grant to Don Guy Dufossat a lot in Conde Street bounded on one side by the Royal Warehouse and on the other side by a lot granted to Don Pedro Piernas. (See “Roads.) An order was given to issue the corresponding title for his absolute possession, on condition that he pay the taxes due the City Treasury.

He was called for the purpose of obtaining the amount required in order to ask for bids.

It was ordered to issue the corresponding title for his absolute possession.

262 4/25/1777 Governor: Galvez; Royal Ensign: De Reggio, Sr. - At this time it was made known that Don Renato Gabriel Fasenda, Agent for His Chinese Majesty, has in his possession two pumps which are useful in extinguishing fires, and should be bought for use of the city. After examination it was agreed to purchase the pumps.

268 10/10/1777 Governor: Galvez; Royla Ensign: De Reggio, Sr. - At this time the Governor and President presented a Royal Memorandum regarding the agreement made by the citizens for the payment of runaway Negroes, killed. At a later meeting (page 306) the by-laws issued by His Majesty regarding the correction and punishment of Negro Slaves of this province was made known, after having been communicated to all the other cities of this Province in order that they may express their views. These by-laws and reports were ordered read at the next meeting, and the Commissioners agreed to request the most prominent citizens to be present in the Cabildo on March 1st to express their views and assist in carrying out these by-laws

270 11/8/1777 Governor: Galvez; Royal Ensign: De Reggio, Sr. - The Commissioners discussed the need for ladders large enough to reach the roofs of the houses. It was resolved to build two ladders for each alley, to be kept in opposite corners, to be paid for by the owners of the houses.
