Although the Louisiana Division staff is happy to answer specific questions about our holdings, please note that we offer only limited search services by mail. We can respond only to very specific requests that we copy a certain record or that we search a certain index.

If you find a reference to a suit record in one of our online indexes, you may request a copy of that record by first sending us a $3.00 fee asking that we inform you of the cost to copy the record. We will count the number of pages in the suit record and let you know the full charge for the copy. Our photocopy fee is fairly steep-- $2.00 per page--so if the record you seek has been microfilmed, we strongly urge you to save some money and order the microfilm of the record from the LDS Family History Library nearest you rather than order a copy from us. All requests for copies must be submitted by regular mail, with payment in advance (check or money order, please); we can't take orders by phone or email.

For details on our fees for searching printed or manuscript indexes not available in NUTRIAS, please contact us by phone, mail, or email.

Better yet, visit us in person and we'll set you on your way toward digging for roots in the mud files!

Good luck with your research in the records of the Orleans Parish Civil Courts!
